철현금 & 타악 연주자 ‘한솔잎’의 첫 번째 EP 앨범 [사라진 것들로부터]

국악 타악 및 철현금 연주자이자 작곡자인 ‘한솔잎’은 일찍부터 여러 창작단체에서 활동을 해오며 전통 음악은 물론 창작 음악에 특화된 아티스트이다. 2017년 솔로 데뷔 이후 두 번의 단독 콘서트와 1장의 싱글 앨범을 발표하였다. 그 외 활발하고 다채로운 활동을 통해 전통악기의 새로운 주법과 다양한 리듬에 대해 연구하고 실현하였으며, 동시대 창작 음악에 대한 안목과 감각을 담은 곡을 선보이고 있다.
새롭게 발매된 EP 앨범 [사라진 것들로부터]에서는 생소하지만 매력적인 사운드를 가지고 있는 철현금과 운라를 통해, 한솔잎의 그간의 생각과 감정을 담아낸 곡들을 익숙한 사운드와 형식으로 풀어냈다. 

사라진 것들, 그리고 그 자리에 채워진 것들에 대해.
[사라진 것들로부터]

첫 콘서트를 준비하며 ‘곡을 써야겠다’라고 생각한 후, 처음 떠오른 주제는 ‘사라짐’이었다. 예전부터 사라진 것들에 대해 생각하는 시간이 많았다. 사라짐은 항상 있었다. 생각할수록 꼬리를 물고 깊어지는 마음 때문에 감당할 수 없는 순간들을 마주하기도 했다. 솔로로 데뷔한 후 ‘사라짐’이란 주제를 가지고 두 번의 콘서트를 열었고, 그 안에서 가장 좋아하는 5곡을 이번 앨범에 담았다. 
지금의 나에게서 사라진 것들, 그리고 그 자리에 채워진 것들에 관한 이야기이다.

1. 늙은 디지털
컴퓨터가 막 보급되기 시절의 나는 포맷도 혼자 척척 해내는 사람이었는데, 지금의 나는 핸드폰의 기능들도 버겁다. 그럴 때면 어김없이 예전 아날로그 시대의 감성이 그립다. 키보드보다 타자기를 더 많이 가지고 놀았던 어린 시절. 라디오에서 들리는 노이즈와 정제되지 않은 수많은 음악을 테이프에 녹음해서 마이마이로 듣던 날들.

2. 필요의 순간
‘필요한’과 ‘필요’는 다르다. ‘순간’이란 단어를 그 뒤에 붙인다면 더더욱 다른 의미를 가지게 된다. ‘필요한 순간’은 내가 무언가가 필요해진 순간을 표현한다면, ‘필요의 순간’은 ‘필요한’보다 그 의미가 더욱 강하고 무겁다. 내 의지와 전혀 상관없이 그 무언가를 옆에 두어야만 하는 순간이다. 언젠가 사라진 무언가가 당황스러울 정도로 ‘훅’ 필요의 순간에 놓였을 때가 있었다.

3. 어른들은 누구나 처음엔 어린이였다
이제 어른이란 단어가 어색하지 않은 나이가 되었다. 가끔 어린아이를 보면 부러운 마음이 든다. 다시 돌아갈 수 없는 어린 시절을 그리워하는 어른들의 공허를 담았다. 지금도 너무 좋아하는 생텍쥐페리의 소설인 ‘어린 왕자’의 한 구절을 인용하여 타이틀로 삼았다.

4. 지난한 마음들
‘지난하다’는 사전적 의미로 ‘지극히 어렵고 힘든’이란 뜻을 가지고 있다. 지난여름, 오지 않는 연락을 하염없이 기다리며 만든 곡이다. 너무 힘들고 가슴 아파서 울면서 만들었던 기억이 난다. 아직도 연주할 때면 그때의 기억에 정말로 슬프다.

5. 찬미의 봄
친구 중 한 명과 5월의 어느 날 저녁에 연남동에 놀러 갔었다. 그 친구는 아이를 낳고 1년 만의 저녁 외출이었다. 너무 오랜만의 외출에 그동안 자유롭게 나오지 못했던 시간을 아쉬워하고 지나가 버린 청춘을 그리워할 줄 알았는데, 그 누구보다 그 순간을 즐기는 모습이 행복해 보였다. 오히려 눈시울이 붉어진 건 나였다. 그때의 그 친구 표정이 잊히지 않아서 만들게 된 곡이다. 그 친구의 이름이 ‘찬미’다. 찬미야 사랑한다.

The 1st EP Album of traditional percussion & cheolhyeongeum artist/composer, Han Solip [From Things Disappeared]

Han Solip actively participated in various music ensembles, performing and creating both traditional and modern pieces through percussion and cheolhyeongeum.
She debuted as a soloist in 2017, showcasing 2 solo concerts and an EP album. Since then, she performed in various venues, with songs rooted in traditional music and diverse rhythms. Her musicality presents her skills as not only a musician, but as a composer.
Through the EP Album [From Things Disappeared], familiar yet attractive rhythms are combined through the cheolhyeongeum and unra, interpreted through the emotions of composer and artist Han Solip.

Things Lost, and Those we Replace
[From Things Disappeared]

While deciding to compose new pieces for her concert, Han Solip's main inspiration was drawn from 'things lost'. Her reflections came from things lost throughout life. Loss is inevitable. There are moments when these emotions are unbearable, though we must face them.
With the theme of Disappearance and Loss, Han Solip held 2 concerts, and featured 5 tracks most meaningful to represent this album. 
The stories are of things we lose and what we replace to take its place. 

1. Old Digital 
While advanced when learning to computers, I now have trouble navigating the features of my phone. This made me yearn for the analog era experienced as a child. How typewriters were more familiar than keyboards. The static of radio and dreaming along to the music from casette tapes.

2. The Moment of Need
In Korean, 'need' and 'necessary' are vastly different words. When combined with 'moment', it becomes even more so. 'The Moment of Need' becomes stronger than a 'Necessary Moment'. In situations formed against my will, I had but to face them. This song was composed for these moments.

3. All Grown-Ups were once Children
The term 'adult' is not unfamiliar. There are times I feel wistful when seeing children. This song contains the yearning of grown-ups to return to their childhood. The title of this track was inspired by Saint Exupery's 'Le Petit Prince'.

4. Of Difficult Minds
This song was aptly named due to a difficult and arduous time. This past summer, I waited for a call I knew would not come. Tears and heartache where the outcome while composing this piece. Even while perfoming this song, the emotions are still alive as they were that summer.

5. Chanmi's Spring
I visited Yeonnamdong with a friend one May. It was her first breath of air after bringing life into the world. While I thought she would lament her freedom and youth lost, she instead was blissful beyond belief. If anything, the sadness came from me. I cannot forget the happiness upon her face. That friend is Chanmi. With love forevermore, this song is for you.
