꿈의 이름

미뤄둔 마음이 빚처럼 쌓여 잠을 이루지 못하는 날들, 꿈에서 어렴풋이 본 장면이 계속 남았습니다. 너무 솔직해서 부끄러웠던 마음들은 제각기 어울리는 모습으로 음악에 담겼습니다. 어떤 이는 음악이 가진 마법을 '시간과 장소를 넘나드는 힘'이라고 합니다. 

[꿈의 이름]에 실린 세 개의 곡들은 -어느 시골 바닷 마을, 혼자 있는 자취방, 막차 시간 지하철 안- 등 특정한 장소로 우리를 데려갑니다. 간결한 코드, 필요한 최소한의 악기만 배치한 이 앨범은, 덕분에 이야기에 더욱 집중하게 합니다. 조심스러운 행복과 작은 용기를 보냅니다.

1. 그려요 

“나는 여기. 당신은 거기서. 우리 사이의 공간을 바라보아요.” 

음식을 식탁 위에 두고 한참 동안 바라보며 먹기 전의 설렘을 즐기는 친구가 있습니다. 이 곡은 음식과 거리 두며 즐거워하는 친구의 마음과 같이, 소중한 이와 가까워지기 전에 거리를 두고 그리워하고 싶다고 속삭이는 이야기입니다. 어쿠스틱 기타의 경쾌한 리듬 위에 밝은 일렉 기타 사운드로 장식했습니다. 여름철 바다가 있는 한적한 동네가 떠오르는, 새벽녘이나 늦은 오후에 듣고 싶어지는 곡입니다. 


2. 잠이 안 와 

“마음이 쿵 내려 앉아도 어쩔 수 없이. 난 그 자리에 가만히 엎드려 그날의 냄새를 맡아보네.”

이제 그만 잊고 싶어 깊은 곳에 넣어둔 기억들은 불쑥 나타나 우리를 고통으로 유혹합니다. 슬픔으로 얼룩진 여기서 한 걸음 나아가기 위해서는 결국 가장 피하고 싶은 것들과 만나야 합니다. 그리고 두려운 기억을 마주치면 의외로 안도하는 마음이 되지요. 이 곡은 아픔이 지나간 뒤 그 자리를 다독이는 이야기입니다. 처음부터 중반까지는 일렉 기타와 패드의 간결한 악기구성으로 가사에 집중시키고, 후반부에는 그랜드피아노, 드럼, 베이스, 어쿠스틱 기타 등 풀 밴드 사운드로 감정이 점차 고조되는 곡입니다. 

3. 고주망태 

“피해를 입히지 않는 그냥 고주망태야. 아저씨 냄새가 나는 그냥 고주망태야.” 

술에 취해 지하철을 타고 집으로 돌아가며 넋두리를 늘어놓는 이야기입니다. 넋두리는 다시 어지러운 생각으로 이어지고 오래된 생각들을 꺼내며 '나는 고주망태야'하고 소리칩니다. 다양한 음색의 악기들이 바통을 터치하며 신나게 이어져 술에 취해 어지럽고 기분이 둥둥 뜨는 분위기를 살렸습니다. 일견 가사와 어울리지 않는 듯 해맑은 권눈썹의 보컬과, 가수 버의 절규 섞인 코러스로 유쾌함을 더했습니다. 남녀노소 누구나 끄떡끄떡 리듬을 탈 수 있는 100 bpm의 느린 댄스곡입니다. 


Calling in a dream 

Days when I couldn't sleep while all the feels piling up in my heart, the scene I vaguely saw in a dream was still in my head. Each feeling of shame, but honesty are shrouded in the music themselves in a way that suit. Some say music has "a magical power crossing over time and place."

The three songs in [Calling in a dream] take us to a specific place - a rural seaside village, an apartment at night alone, and on the subway at the last train hour. With concise chords and only the minimum instruments, this album puts more focus on the story. Sending you careful happiness and a little courage.

1. Drawing 

“I'm at here. You're at there. Let's gaze at the space between us.” 

I have a friend who puts food on the table and gazes at it for a long time and enjoys the excitement before eating. As she enjoys the distance from food, this song is a whispering to enjoy the distance from your loved one before getting close. It is decorated with bright electric guitar sounds on top of the upbeat rhythm of the acoustic guitar. This is a song you want to listen to in the early morning or late afternoon, reminding you of a quiet town with the sea in summer. 


2. Can't sleep. 
 
"Even if my heart sinks, I can't help it. I lie down there and smell the scent of that day.” 


The memories we put deep in our hearts to forget, suddenly appear and entice us with pain. In order to move forward in this sorrow-stained place, you will eventually encounter the things you most want to avoid. Ironically, when running into fearful memories, you feel relieved. This song is a story of patting the spot after the pain passes. From the beginning to the middle, it focuses on the lyrics with a simple instrumental composition of electric guitar and pads, and in the second half, emotions gradually rise with full band sounds such as grand piano, drum, bass, and acoustic guitar. 


3. Goju-mangtae (Dead drunk) 

“I'm a goju-mangtae who don't do any harm. I'm a goju-mangtae who smell like mister." 

It's a story on the way back home on a subway being drunk and whining. The whining leads to dizzying thoughts, bringing out old thoughts and shouting, "I'm a goju-mangtae." Musical instruments of various tones touch the baton and continue excitedly, reviving the atmosphere of being drunk, dizzy, and floating. At first glance, the clear vocals with Knoonssup that don't seem to match the lyrics and the screaming chorus of the singer BUR's add to the joy. It is a 100 bpm slow dance song that anyone of all ages can dance to.
